Exorcisms are an important part of history when pertaining to possessions. An excellent example of technology that can perform exorcisms can be found in Numbers 21 where Moses saved the Israelites while in the desert.
The metaphor of the Israelites dying in the desert was used to denote possessions, since the human no longer had control of his, or her body. They were finally exorcised when Moses intervened, after instructed to build areptilian statue (Numbers 21:8), and was called the Nehushtan in 2 Kings 18: 4. The Nehushtan statue exorcised the Israelites who were possessed (perhaps due to resonance by having some kind of electrical current driven into the statue).
